Penny is originally from Christchurch, and has lived in Queenstown since 1993 with her husband and two daughters.
In 1987 Penny moved to Auckland and worked as a Customs Officer for 4 years including working at the Auckland International Airport before taking some time off to explore the world. For 14 months she travelled extensively visiting many countries including many parts of Europe and Africa, and some parts of South East Asia and the South Pacific. These experiences gave Penny a true appreciation for other cultures, as well as becoming well versed as a traveller and the expectations that come with visiting other countries and the value of the experience received.
In 1994 Penny started working at the Queenstown airport for Air New Zealand, Qantas and Virgin Australia as a Customer Services Agent. With a strong focus on customer service, Penny was responsible for all the ground operations that took place at the airport including flight dispatch, and was dealing with customers on a daily basis.
Penny has been Guiding since November 2012, with a speciality in Wine Touring. She currently undertakes part-time work as the Central Otago Sales Representative for Chard Farm Winery and has been in this role since October 2016. This role requires Penny to travel around the region including areas such as Queenstown, Wanaka, Invercargill, Cromwell, Clyde, to visit existing clients and to scout for new business. This role has given Penny vast experience and knowledge of these surrounding winery regions and is fast becoming an expert in the NZ wine industry.
Penny currently resides on Lake Hayes, is self-employed, and contracting herself as a Driver Guide and Bookkeeper in her spare time.
Penny enjoys the outdoors, with keen interests in gardening, riding, hiking, skiing and playing tennis. She also appreciates good food, wine, travel and history, which gives her a firm standing when meeting overseas travellers and showcasing the best of what New Zealand has to offer.
Penny is First Aid and CPR qualified.
