Jeff A true local of Queenstown. For the past four decades, he has called the South Island his home, becoming intimately acquainted with its road network and hidden pathways.

In his younger years, Jeff was an avid adventurer, immersing himself in activities such as hiking, mountaineering, fly fishing, and both cross-country and downhill skiing. Nowadays, he finds solace either on his road or mountain bike, or tending to his garden.

Jeff is passionate about the conservation estate, and he has dedicated countless hours to exploring the magnificent National Parks and reserves scattered throughout the South Island. As a retired engineering geologist, he successfully ran his own consultancy in Queenstown for three decades. His expertise even took him abroad to Malaysia and Hong Kong, where he resided for four years.

Jeff's passion lies in natural hazard risk assessment, management, and mitigation, and he has played a crucial role in providing geotechnical input for the design and construction of numerous bike trails spanning several hundred kilometres across the lower South Island.

Beyond his geological pursuits, Jeff's knowledge extends to botany, having studied the subject alongside geology. Living in this region has allowed him to delve into the rich history of early gold mining endeavours, deepening his appreciation for the area's natural heritage.

Jeff's commitment to the environment is evident through his volunteer work with both the Wakatipu Reforestation Trust and Red Cross.
